Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Receiving Clerk for their Westwood Mall – Westville location. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and precise receiving and packing of stock, adhering to Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures and fulfilling customer requirements within the store.

Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Proficient in computer usage
  • Strong numerical abilities
  • Availability to work retail hours

Advantageous:

  • Prior experience in receiving, retail, or FMCG sectors

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately verify, scan, and document physical goods received for the store, in line with company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Receive all goods and invoices from the warehouse according to company guidelines.
  • Return any unordered or damaged items delivered to the store and complete credit notes for non-acceptance as per company policy and SOPs.
  • Ensure that deliveries and invoices are thoroughly checked for accuracy.
  • Confirm that the goods received match the invoiced items in terms of quantity, variety, and condition.
  • Assist the Receiving Manager in preparing and logging warehouse claims within the claims system.
  • Maintain the flow of stock receipts, ensuring that deliveries are processed on the same day and sent to the sales floor.
  • Handle all returns to suppliers in accordance with company SOPs.
  • Ensure that all physical controls in the goods receiving area are established and functioning.
  • Keep storerooms in an organized and acceptable condition.
  • Aid in the management and control of high-risk stock.

Competencies:
Essential:

  • Understanding of receiving operating procedures and administration
  • Proficient command of the English language
  • Effective communication with suppliers, management, representatives, and staff
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Time management abilities
  • Capability to lift heavy items (+20kg)

Advantageous:

  • Bilingual
  • Experience with stock rotation systems

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willingness and ability to work retail hours
  • Physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes (­+ 20kg)
  • Reliable transportation and/or residence in close proximity to the store is required.
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Clear credit and criminal records are essential.
